TestNG

What is TestNG?

TestNG is a powerful open-source automation testing framework inspired by JUnit, designed for use with the Java programming language. It supports a wide range of testing types including unit testing, functional testing, end-to-end testing, and integration testing. TestNG provides advanced features such as annotations, parallel test execution, test grouping, parameterization, and data-driven testing, making it a preferred choice for building structured and maintainable automated test suites.

Test automation with TestNG is commonly used for:

  • Unit and integration testing: Writing modular tests for individual components as well as their interactions.

  • Selenium-based testing: Often paired with Selenium WebDriver for automating web application tests.

  • Regression testing: Re-running large sets of tests automatically to ensure new code changes don’t break existing functionality.

  • Data-driven and parameterized testing: Reusing test logic across multiple data sets.
